Good evening comrades
  Shad, Nov 08 2008

Long time no see,

Since my previous post in August I got a bit lazy with the blog, and also with Poker in general. Not from lack of wanting to play but more from being busy irl and at work. That's not to say I haven't been playing- I have played a little, even returning to my learning grounds of Ladbrokes and earning bonuses on a few other sites.

I'm rolled for NL50 now and tbh the thing that spurred me to make this post was basically (aka disguised brag) doubling my roll in a 180 man donkament tonight:

Intending to really get back to business (that being 6max cash games) starting from next week~

Ty to qnet#liquidpoker btw!

August
  Shad, Sep 02 2008

I started August with the intention of mass grinding 6-max NL25. That quickly went to shit however as I got food poisoning and had to miss work for 8 days or so. Since I could barely move or think I decided to grind some donkaments instead. I had a lot of minor cashes in larger mtts but couldn't get a decent score. However I took down some half decent prizes in the 180 man stars mtts, highlights:

Anyway I got back to playing NL25 a week or so ago, I'm totally dissapointed because I played like shit and managed to tilt several times- not to mention 15k hands is really nothing.. I can't really complain because I still finished up, but my winnings should really be 3x this:

One day I decided to play super loose on one table (like 33/30+ and constantly 3 betting etc). I just wanted to see how other players adjusted and reacted. So sick the amount of action you can get playing like that. Anyway that session culminated in this hand:

+ Show Spoiler +

I haven't played any donkaments since that spree aside from the Sunday hundred grand. This month I'm going to properly knuckle down and make sure I get 40k or so hands in. Aims for September are to move up to NL50 and to get GoldStar.

Gl everyone.

July / first post
  Shad, Aug 01 2008

Thought it would be a good idea to do this to motivate myself and keep track of my progress. I'm not going to bore you with an epic life story, but rather I'm going to bore you SHITLESS with my recent NL25 exploits~

Mini life story (poker only):
Sep 2007: Decided I wanted to learn poker at some point as I love games in general.
Nov 2007: Learned the rules of poker, played mass Ladbrokes MTT freerolls.
Dec 2007-June 2008: Fucked around with a lot of mtts on stars, played cash tables on and off (motioned to start playing properly but never did), no real effort made and not enough money to actually invest (always cashed out winnings). Played first live game in casino at 3am pissed, and went bust (£60 stack) on 2nd live hand ever with JJ on 2J3 rainbow board (donk with 56 called my all in check raise n/c).

July 2008: Moved to a new flat and got internet connection on the 23rd July. Haven't played poker for ages and decided the time had come to make a real effort and see if I can do anything in this game. So I deposited $600 (in order to gain the full 2X reload bonus that is running).

I decided I would play a few mtts before I started seriously playing cash tables and managed to take 5th in my first donkament back to instantly boost my roll by $230. I embarked on some NL10 before realising NL25 wasn't much different and I could afford to roll myself for it.

Over the last 8 days of July I have played 12k hands (3-4 tabling), which is fairly decent considering I have a full time job at the moment aswell. The first 7k hands did not go well, I think this was down to not having played for a long time and almost a relearning period.

I spent time analysing my hands in Hold'em Manager (which OWNS btw) and quickly corrected my playstyle realising that I had spewed $300+ with super loose calls and way over-aggressive play. The last 5k hands went a LOT better, I haven't spewed or even felt a hint of tilt.

On July 31st I needed just over 200FPPs to earn SilverStar so I put in a 5hr~ session (+6BIS +2nd Royal Flush :D) straight after work to get there just in time for the August deadline.

Graph:

Future: Now I'm going to withdraw my roll back to $500 and freeroll NL25 hoping to learn and earn as much as possible as I progress (hopefully) to NL50. Planning to spend a lot of time playing as I LOVE poker.

Hi to Yaffie and Critterer who I saw at the NL25 tables...

... and thank you to sniderstyle and ggplz for their help.

GL all.
